Abuse and Acceptable Use
Makeload can generate a lot of traffic, so it is built to be used only against targets that the account holder controls. This page explains the rules, how we enforce them, and how to report a problem.
Rules for customers
- Test only what you own or are authorised to test. You must prove control of a domain, by a file or a DNS record, before tests can run against it. A verified domain is tied to a single account.
- No attacks. Makeload must not be used for denial-of-service, to hide an attack, to scan or probe third parties, or to exceed the limits of your plan.
- Mind third parties. If your site depends on a provider, CDN or hosting company that restricts load testing, you need their permission as well.
- Stay within plan limits. Do not try to bypass rate, duration or verification controls.
Breaking these rules can lead to a test being stopped, the account being suspended or closed without refund, and, where appropriate, to a report to the authorities.
If you think Makeload traffic is being directed at a system you own or operate without permission, email abuse@makeload.io with as much of this as you can:
- The domain or IP address being targeted.
- The time and time zone when the traffic started and stopped.
- The source IP addresses, and a short sample of the log lines.
- How we can reach you.
We review every report, stop any test that is not authorised, and act on the account behind it. Because of privacy rules we may not be able to share details about our customer, but we will tell you what action was taken where we can.
Ask us not to test your domain
If you never want Makeload traffic sent to a domain or address range you control, tell us at abuse@makeload.io and show that you control it. We will add it to our do-not-test list so that no customer can run tests against it.
